Description
Protective coating extends the scope for use
In the past ultrasonic sensors could often not be used for measuring corrosive media levels or in applications involving machinery and equipment being cleaned with corrosive liquids. This was very much down to the corrosive effect of these liquids and their emitted gases on the ultrasonic transducers. In some instances the zws sensor had to be dispensed with altogether to avoid liquids or gases damaging the sensor plastic cover.
A special zws sensor design is now on the market. It involves the entire sensor housing including the ultrasonic transducer up to the connecting cable being provided with a special parylene protective coating. As a result, the whole of the sensor is hermetically protected.

Level measurements using the protection-coated crz sensor
Thanks to this novel protective coating, zws ultrasonic sensors can now be used in corrosive environments. This new sensor range is called crz.
