‘Join in and have fun’ – microsonic hosts Health Day

The first Health Day at microsonic was a resounding success, offering employees not only valuable inspiration for a healthier lifestyle, but also plenty of fun and exercise.

Exercise, nutrition and relaxation were the focus at microsonic: on 5 September, the Dortmund-based ultrasonic sensor technology company held its first health day under the motto ‘Join in and have fun’. The day offered numerous interactive stations, lectures and sporting activities for all employees.

One highlight of the day was the opening lecture, ‘Boundless health – how healthy are boundaries?’ by Doc Esser. With expertise and humour, he entertainingly dispelled health myths and provided insights into current developments.

Things got active with four participatory courses ranging from yoga and fascia rolling to back fitness and balance. The courses were led by physiotherapist Cedric Wehmeier from B2B Performance in Dortmund and yoga teacher and former bobsleigh world champion Annika Drazek.

In addition, the AOK and Techniker Krankenkasse health insurance companies offered practical health coaching sessions. Employees were able to learn about health topics such as posture diagnostics while sitting, vital sign screening and EMG muscle tone measurement of the cervical spine. They also received valuable tips on nutrition, exercise and relaxation.

Volleyball is not one of the most popular sports in Dortmund, which made training with the players from TV Hörde's successful women's team all the more exciting. Employees were able to test their volleyball skills on the inflatable beach volleyball court. Despite the pouring rain, the shortened volleyball tournament was very well received by the participants.

Both fun and team spirit remained unbroken on the first Health Day and culminated in a relaxed summer party on the roof terrace at Dortmund's Phoenix Lake.
