The logistics industry is increasingly focusing on safety to prevent wrong-way traffic and optimize picking times. ‘Our customer had a question. We had an idea and developed a new ultrasonic solution,’ explains Johannes Schulte, Managing Director of microsonic GmbH. The new Wrong-Way-Sensor (wws) guides industrial trucks safely and accident-free through high-bay warehouses. The ultrasonic sensor has a scanning range limit of 3.5 metres. Within this measuring range, the wws recognises industrial trucks in the logistics hall that enter rack aisles. The sensor distinguishes between incoming and outgoing industrial trucks.
In a one-way system in a high-bay warehouse, industrial trucks travelling in the correct direction do not need to be warned. However, if an industrial truck is travelling in the wrong direction, the driver should be warned driver should be warned acoustically and visually. The Wrong-Way sensor is equipped with a flashing light and a horn for this purpose. This prevents unnecessary wrong turns and collisions with oncoming industrial trucks.
